Accountability Tip!

I wanted to share this little 
ACCOUNTABILITY Tip with you all :)


 I never really kept track of what I did for workouts during the week, month or 17 months of my journey. I decided I wanted to keep track of what I was doing so I could see a track record of what I did. 

I love this!

I wrote down every workout that I did for the last two months and it feel so good to look at the calendar and see what you did for the whole month! It is very rewarding!

This is a good way to feel good with yourself if you did your workouts and see that you really are working hard, or maybe to say to yourself...I'm not getting results and it may be due to not being as accountable and committed as I should be. 

SEPTEMBER is just starting out! Get your calendar..get some fun markers and start coloring in that calander with all of your progress!

Self Control

We are in control! Yes..we are! You may feel at times that you are not in control...in many areas of our lives, but we are. Last night was Derek's 15th Birthday... my baby boy is growing up  We had a little cake. I was on track all day and I was not going to let cake stop me, but I wanted a bite! Is one bite going to kill me? No! So I cut a really small piece and ate 1/2 of it. It was enough for me to join in on the fun, get a taste and not feel guilty. Now...you may not be there yet! That being said there are times when everyone is eating cookies and I say nope...because one is not enough! We have all been there. Get stubborn. Sometimes you need to just not take a bite because you know in your heart that you are going to want more and not tasting it makes it a lot easier on you. It is hard to not take that bite, but harder to not take another! So...special night last night...I took that bite 
I just wanted to share this because we all go through this and one thing that has helped me on my journey is that I don't eat the things I'm not supposed to. I go get some peanuts or something....

Progress feels SO GOOD!

So I have been on my journey for 16 months now and each little step of progress feels so AMAZING!!! Every step of the way has had bumps, but when you notice the PROGRESS it is Awesome!


Yesterday my daughter Brooke and son Derek came to the store with me shopping. We went to Old Navy...love that store! I wanted a few things...a sweat shirt, some jogging pants and maybe a tank top or two :) 

Anyone who has been over weight knows the dressing room battle. You take your clothes off and instantly are depressed. Then you try things on, get more depressed and put everything back and go home almost in tears. I am so happy to say, even thought I still have weight to lose, this battle is slowly coming to an end for me. Women will always have that struggle of clothes not fitting right? BUT.. putting clothes back because they fit weird is not the same as putting clothes back because you can't get them on....who is with me on this?

So, I grabbed the clothes that I'm looking for in a 1X and LG as I want to try them both on to be sure I get the right size and save myself a trip back to the shelf :) LOL.  It is very weird for me to say that everything I bought yesterday was a LARGE. Oh my...I was so excited! I told me daughter..it is very weird to see your reflection in a mirror or window and not say, "God you are so FAT"...now I say...You know what Carrie....you look like an average person now! We will always see flaws in ourselves, but to feel confident again is amazing!

Moral to this story!

Please...don't ever think weight loss and fitness is impossible! It is not. Beachbody has given me the tools I needed for success and it is the first program that I have ever done that gives you EVERYTHING you need to SUCCEED!

Why Beachbody Programs Work!!!!
NO GIMMICKS HERE!

I have done so many amazing Beachbody Programs that I feel I can confidently say these programs WORK! I will talk about the programs that I have done through my 16 Month Journey.... P90X3, P90X, TurboFire, 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme, Body Beast, The Master's Hammer and Chisel and the list goes on!!!! 

You have seen the infomercials on TV and you say, as I always did, I doubt those really work, I don't have the money...and the little voice in your head talks you out of buying the programs. Honestly we have all been in those situations where we purchasing something and then feel like someone just pulled a fast one on us, right? Well, I'm here to tell you that I have done enough of these programs that if you do your part....do the workouts according to the schedule that is given to you and work on your nutrition, you will get results. If somebody does not get results it is most likely because they did not follow the program accordingly. 

Why do these programs work? When you do these programs it is obvious why they work. Each video program is specifically designed to target ALL of your muscle groups. Each programs comes with a set of videos designed to target your whole body and they all come with a schedule to help you stay on track. You work your upperbody, lowerbody and core! Put this all together and you have a TOTAL BODY WORKOUT! There are different programs for all levels and there is always a modifier to show you how to take it easy if you're pushing too hard or if you are beginning and need to take it easy when starting out. 

I have done a LOT of exercise programs in my life. I have VCR tapes to prove it..haha, but when I started with P90X3, that is when my eyes opened up. I never worked on my upper body and I never really worked my core. I have done sit ups, Yes, but never planks. I have used weights, Yes, but never did the exercises that I do in these workout videos! Beachbody Programs have changed my life. All my weight loss success is a result of my Beachbody workouts! The 21 Day fix has taught me Clean Eating and that has helped me to take my fitness journey to the next level. 

Beachbody has it all! Shakeology - Your daily dose of dense nutrition. These shakes are amazing. They are full of Super foods, protein, probiotics and Phytonutrients!!! I have learned through this journey how hard it really is to get all the nutrition you need by food alone. We need these supplements to give our body what it needs! Without my protein shakes I just can't seem to get enough protein into my body and Shakeology..well it is way more then just a protein shake! How to Stay on the Right Track

Here are a few tips that I learned along my fitness journey that I hope can help you through yours :)



1.  THE SCALE -  Ok...so I will admit I am obsessed with the scale. There are so many different thoughts out there on weighing yourself, but this is what I do. I remember starting my journey and I would be so frustrated when the scale would not budge...or....when it would go up? Oh my...I would get so upset. The one thing I kept telling myself is....it doesn't matter what the scale says...you just keep exercising everyday and eating right. No matter what you are healthier because you're moving and eating better. So no matter what the scale says, I was on the right track.

I started to see patterns and I would make sure I kept those in mind at all times. Yes..I weigh myself every morning right after my workout! I always keep in mind the time of day I ate the day before. If it I ate late ...I try not to get upset if the scale is on the higher side. I have noticed, especially on my last vacation week that I was not drinking enough water and my weight was high all week on my vacation and I was eating less..Yikes! That is just crazy!

I also noticed that if you don't eat the amount of calories you are supposed to consume....my weight went up! WOW! On my vacation week I was not eating my 6 small meals a day or enough calories and I was 5 lbs higher...so between not enough water and not enough calories...I weighed more. Who would think, RIGHT?

When I went back to work...increased my water intake and increased my calorie intake, the scale went right back down. Seriously...I was slightly flabbergasted!




2. MUSCLE - We can get that body we have always dreamed of! I believe it! We have all heard over and over again that Muscle weighs more then fat, but we all say...yeah, yeah...whatever...right? LOL. Well, until we all see it with our own eyes, we don't care...we are working out and the scale is not moving..in our minds, something is wrong, right? Well this is why taking your measurements is so crucial! Here is an example...I have not lost anything in a few months and no matter how far along you are on your journey, it is still frustrating. So I took out that measuring tape and realized in the last 6 weeks I lost 2.25 inches. So this just confirms....No weight loss, but loss of inches! So...when you are struggling and not losing, if you have measurements to compare...it might be just enough to keep you on Track!!!!



3 NUTRITION - So we all struggle with Nutrition! We especially struggle when trying to change our habits. That is not easy. We all like our comfort foods...the one thing that is hard to believe is that those craving will go away. After 16 months...I now BELIEVE! At the beginning...I would have a treat at night....a few cookies usually. There were other little treats I would allow myself, but as time went on I slowly eliminated them. The longer you eat clean, the less cravings you will have. 

A few of my struggles - I was afraid of carbs! Anyone with me on this? I remember seeing the doctor because I was having dizzy spells. I had an episode of Vertigo and it terrified me. Took some time to figure it out, but I was having sugar lows. When I tested my sugar it was very low when I was light headed. The doctor told me I need to eat more carbs. I actually cried. I was on a mission and all I remember hearing is CARBS ARE BAD! Well, I have discovered that it is not the carbs...it is the type of carbs we eat. 100% whole grain bread, quinoa, brown rice....etc are all healthy carbs. We need these carbs to feed our mucsles after we workout! I never realized that for the 1st hour after a good workout your body is searching for carbs. That is the best window to eat your carbs. So after your workout....remember, feed your body what it needs! 

Protein was another big one for me! I thought that because I always ate a ton of meat at night that I ate a lot of protein. I did not realize how much protein I really needed. I also didn't realize that you need that protein all day long to help keep your sugar levels in balance. The carbs give you a spike in your sugar levels and the protein helps to keep that in balance.

I never realized how huge NUTRITION really was until now. I go searching around the house for protein or carbs when I know I'm low on one or the other.....because I need that balance and so do you! If you are on the 21 day fix program...try to keep your containers balanced! Hopefully it will help you, so you don't have to struggle with the imbalance that took me months to figure out :)

Kick those Pounds in the Butt!

How do you get the pounds off? 

That is a question that I have struggled with my whole life. I remember being a young teenager and thinking...I just won't eat. Then what happens? We all know....you go home and BINGE. You might be able to do it for a few days...and then it's over. What diet do I try next? 

Then you decide you're going to exercise. You get consistant with your workouts for about 2 weeks. You don't lose a lb and you say what??? Forget this crap. I have worked out for 2 weeks and didn't lose an ounce. 

Then you say...I'm going to start eating healthy. You look for low fat options, or veggies. If you are like me you probably thought that Fat Free Saltines were ok to eat because they are fat free? Or Candy corn..hahah ...those are fat free! Even my favorite Peppermint Patty's. Oh those are fine...they are fat free. I'm sorry....BUT NOPE!

You want to get the weight off??? It is time to lace up those sneakers and Make Healthy Happen!!!
Here is what has worked for me!

This all sounds so easy...actually it really is easy, you just have to be CONSISTANT, DEDICATED, BELIEVE and TAKE ACTION!

1- Count your calories - There are different ways to do this. You can use the 21 Day Fix Food plan and the container system and that has your calories precounted for you. Makes it easy for you to stay on target and be sure you are eating the right foods. 

I personally really feel the need to count my calories. I want to know what is going into my body. That being said, I eat the foods on the 21 Day Fix Food plan because this is an AWESOME Guide to clean eating. 

I use the My Fitness Pal App to count my calories. Now....if you have followed my posts you know I have had some issues with Protein/Carbs. I didn't eat enough protein - I starting having sugar low's. Then I was not eating enough carbs and started having heart palpitations. Because of my workouts these deficiencies held me back. I had to cut back on my workouts to stay healthy. This is when a friend of mine told me about MACROS.

I had no idea what Macros were. I still get a little confused, but what I can tell you is the My Fitness Pal APP tracks MACROS :) Yay! So now when I eat I set my macros at 40% Carbs, 30% Fat & 30% Protein. You enter your calories into the app and it tracks your macros fo ryou. When you start doing this you will see what you eat that is hurting you and messing up your Macros :) I had to cut down on my Peanut intake because it was increasing my fat! Now I'm sure to get the right amount of carbs, fat and protein at all times. 

So, count your calories and be sure to eat the right amount of Carbs, Protein & FAT. You need this balance to make your body function properly. If you are working out hard and not eating CARBS...You are going to have issues eventually and visa versa!

2- WORK OUT! Ok...we all know exercise is good for us, right? Here is what I have learned on my journey. I always said...for me..walking a 1/2 hour a day does not give me the results I need. You will see this when you enter your exercise into the My Fitness Pal app. You just don't burn enough calories.  I know my body needs to work hard to get results. I started out with P90X3. This program is not a cake walk. If you are serious and want to see a change in your body, this is the type of workout you need. It focuses on core & cardio! You are not really even doing situps. Everyone things core is situps. Nope. I never did a plank until X3. You are going to have to work! This is just my opinion and what has worked for me....Walking should be an extra! Running is FANTACTIC...but if you are not working your core....you are missing out on feeling Amazing. Now that being said.....You should do it all. work on running, do the walking, but also DO YOUR WORK OUT VIDEOS! They work...they get the job done!

I know we have all heard that you can work out 3 times a week and it is good for your health. Yes, that is true. You at least need that amount of exercise in a week as a baseline. We want results here right? 6 days a week friends for a least 30 minutes a day of serious exercise. You do this....you will see the results you are looking for!

Rule: CARDIO + RESISTANCE TRAINING + CLEAN EATING =  RESULTS!!!!!

It is really that simple! You need to be dedicated to all of the above to get results. If you just do one...you might see some changes, but you have to do it all. Fitness and Eat Clean! You have to count your calories and macros!  You can't stave yourself...you need to eat! When you work out you get more calories and be sure to eat those. If you don't you can can weak and have issues like I explained above. 

This is all what I have experienced in the last year and a half and what has worked for me. It has not been fast losing and that is ok. Be consistant, change you lifestyle and workout!

ENCOURAGING the ones CLOSEST to you pulls at your 
HEART STRINGS!

I had a long talk with my son about how to CHOOSE the right steps along the path to fitness

 and being successful. It is NOT an EASY road and at 16 who would ever think you would need to be worried about Fitness??  I explained that the hardest part is YOU have to be the one to DECIDE to make the change. As much as I may want to be there for you, I can't do it for you.

The other issue is TIME! You can't expect it to work in 3 weeks. 3 weeks is the stepping stone to the beginning of your journey. 3 weeks (21 Days) gets you into a healthy habit. This is the amount of time it takes you to start feeling some changes. It takes more then 21 days to be successful! If you think that in 21 days you are going to be like...."WOW" look at this...NOPE...it is not happening.

You need to make a commitment for a year! A whole year....is that SCARY? Yup....but when you reach that 1 YEAR mark....and you compare your photos and measurements....THEN!....THEN is when it is worth EVERY drop of SWEAT.....every early morning you dragged yourself out of bed....every single stinkin' pushup you struggled through, every single second you devoted to your workouts! And THEN is when you won't be stopped. when you get that far....1 whole year...you don't have to be afraid anymore that you will QUIT....You KNOW what it takes to be successful and you can continue along you journey and help others begin theirs!

Your journey can begin like mind did.....with BEACHBODY...this is not a gimmick....this is the real deal. I am in  LOVE with these programs and I have to SHARE this amazing Journey with you! I'm going to share a little story from tonight.....

I'm going to a dear friends wedding in a few weeks and I needed to get a dress. I went to the store tonight to shop. When I shop I think of going in the changing room and wanting to cry when I leave. I also never fit in anything and leave discouraged. 

Things are changing!

Tonight everything I put on fit. I'm in a size 14 and I have not seen that size since high school. My heart wants all of you that are discourage to reach your goals. My job as a Beachbody Coach is to help you see that you can do ANYTHING!

I did not think it was possible :( I really didn't. 

I made the decision to be a coach because I knew these products work! I am confident that ANYONE can do these programs and get results. 

I am putting together a TEAM. You may not think you can be a coach right now, but when you join our team, you do your program, you get results....you won't be able to help but share how amazing Beachbody is! 

There are so many opportunities!

1- You get in Shape
